"Never forget that the death of someone
loved changes your life forever. It's not that you won't be happy
again. It's simply that you will never be exactly the same as you
were before the death."
-Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D.
Center for Loss & Life Transition Fort Collins, Colorado
When
someone we love dies, the feelings of loss can be
overwhelming.
We may
feel sadness, anger, guilt, confusion or fear. Grief affects us
emotionally, spiritually and physically. Our feelings of grief
have a unique meaning to us and none of us experiences grief or copes
with it in quite the same way. At Hospice Care of Southwest
Michigan, we understand and we can help.
Remember, grieving is
normal. It is full of highs and lows. While the pain may
become less intense, it takes time and work to learn to live with our
loss. Sharing your feelings will often be an important part of
grieving. The professionally-trained grief support staff at Hospice
Care of Southwest Michigan are ready to provide comfort and guidance
during this difficult time.Support from Professionals Who Care

JourneysThe "Journeys" program is designed for children, teens and their families
who are hurting after the death of a loved one.
“Journeys” is
offered twice a year, spring and fall, at no charge to the
participants.
This program
affirms the lives of those who are deceased, as well as those who
are present, and encourages/supports grieving families in their journeys
of grief.
During the group, teens will talk
with other teens, share memories and photos of their loved ones, and
learn to express their thoughts and feelings through music, art and journaling.
Younger
children will find out what "grief" is and how it shows up in their
bodies, feelings and emotions. They will learn to express
themselves using puppets, music and art.
Parents and
caregivers will learn signs and symptoms of grief in teens and
children, receive written information about how to help young people
through grief, and talk with experienced grief counselors and others.
We hope our
"Journeys"presentation may give you an idea of what
our service offers. Please
contact
Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan at (269) 345-0273 to find out
if this group is right for you.

Care of Southwest Michigan has obtained written permission from each
