A Grieving Parents Workshop is being offered to the community. This free six-week supportive workshop is open to parents who have experienced the death of a child due to any cause, at any age beyond infancy. This group will focus on coping with grief and beginning or continuing the process of healing. The workshop meets every Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm August 29 through October 3, 2019. Registration is required and the group size will be limited.
In the Grieving Parents Workshop, participants will:
– Have an opportunity to share the story of his/her young son or daughter with other parents who understand.
– Learn about the process of grief and healthy ways to grieve.
– Explore ways to commemorate and honor your child in meaningful ways.
“By attending this Grieving Parents support group, parents can lessen the isolation they feel after the death of their child. Finding a comfortable connection with other grieving parents can lead to better coping and eventually, toward healing from this life-changing loss,” Kate Kirk-Greenberg, LMSW, Hospice Care of SWMI Grief Counselor.
This workshop is free and open to the community, but registration is required. All sessions build on the previous session, so attendance for all sessions is encouraged. Group facilitators will be Kate Kirk-Greenberg, LMSW, Grief Counselor and Vanessa Miller, TLLP, Grief Counselor.
