As you learn more about what to expect with Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, you’ll find a pervasive theme of caring. This is also true with our grief services. We offer the most comprehensive services for bereavement of any area hospice. It’s a choice we’ve made as part of our commitment to the services that we offer. Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan is a mission-driven agency.
Grief support services are there to guide and support you and your family.
There are many forms of grief and anticipatory grief is one. You and your family may feel the uncertainty of what the future holds. A grief counselor is part of the hospice team supporting you through this journey. All of our services are based on your needs and to bring comfort and dignity to you at the end of your life.
Your family will get the care and support they need.
Your primary caregiver or others in your family will have one-on-one professional grief counseling available to them for an extended period after your death. This is one of the services we offer that is unique to our agency. So many people don’t really understand grief and the healing process. Manifestations of grief can be social or behavioral, physical, emotional and cognitive. Grief can be more about anxiety than depression. It can also be about guilt. These feelings can be very confusing and without help to understand and live through the grief process, they can also be very damaging.
Anyone in our community can receive free grief support services.
We also offer free group support for varied ages and needs. Our commitment to grief support service is available to anyone in our area that has had a loved one die. They don’t need to have been our client. During times when the following in-person group meetings aren’t permitted for health and safety, we have created a few virtual support groups.
