Change Lives for the Better

Comforters, confidants, helpers. Our volunteers are essential to what we do at Centrica Care Navigators, and they’re nothing less than extraordinary in their generosity and care. In giving their time to help people live better, most find their investment to be incredibly rewarding.

Become a Volunteer

As a Centrica volunteer, you do not provide medicine or physical care as the physicians, nurses and aides do. You can brighten someone’s day and help ease their suffering simply by being present, holding a hand and lending an ear. We’ll help match you with assignments that fit your unique skills, interests and schedule. We also provide extensive training and support so you feel prepared and confident for your role.

Opportunities

Home Hospice Care

Volunteer to be with someone at the end of life – providing companionship, emotional support and respite for families. Volunteers find great joy in helping someone live this chapter of life to its fullest, sharing in these moments while offering comfort and reducing isolation and fear.

Hospice services are flexible and driven by each client’s unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Clients may be living in their private residence, a community care facility or in our agency-operated hospice site. Volunteers might also assist with errands, light housekeeping or occasional transportation.

Administrative Volunteering

Help our team with a range of tasks around the office. Volunteer responsibilities can include light administrative work that helps the facility operate and data entry support.

All opportunities are during agency business hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Options are available for regular weekly or monthly assignments. Others may be on a more flexible or as-needed basis.

Event-Volunteers

Centrica Care Navigators conducts fundraising events, such as our Golf Fore Hospice and Duck Derby, every year. As a volunteer, you can help us on the day of these events to make sure it’s a fun, relaxed time for everyone.

Centrica Journeys
Centrica Journeys

Help grieving children through a difficult time by supporting our Journeys program. Some volunteers are trained to facilitate children’s peer support groups, which take place twice a month in the evening. Professional grief support counselors organize activities for each session and support each group while in session. Volunteers may also serve as greeters, provide childcare to the infants, assist in meal service or help in the office.

Clients who face life-limiting illness may need the unique professional, compassionate care provided at our hospice site. You can play an integral role in the circle of support for them and their loved ones. As a volunteer, you may help with meal delivery, greet visitors, perform light maintenance, provide companionship for clients, and give families facility tours.

Pet Therapy

Volunteer with your cat or dog. You’ll receive specific training with your pet and become certified to provide emotional support that brightens the days of our clients and guests.

Pet visits are uniquely comforting to many of our clients – as any animal lover will know. Pets and their human handler must maintain a certification from either Pet Partners or the Alliance of Pet Therapy Dogs. We invite pet volunteers to accept assignments one-on-one with our hospice clients at their homes and at Rose Arbor Place.
